AMREF – African Medical and Research Foundation is the leading local health organization in Africa. For 50 years AMREF has been operating in the frontline in encouraging sustainable development in many African countries.
Almost all AMREF workers are African: doctors, nurses, engineers and teachers belong to the communities in which they work.
This is in fact the philosophy of AMREF: African populations must lead the continent’s development working toward the day in which Africa will not need to depend on external assistance. In half a century AMREF has sustained and expressed the voice of Africans who want to make it on their own. |
